Negative Capability: A Consultation & Reading Group for Clinicians
A small, twice-monthly consultation and reading group for therapists and clinicians who want a place to think together without pressure to perform expertise, resolve quickly, or arrive at consensus.
This group is for those drawn to curiosity, reflection, and the capacity to stay with uncertainty in clinical, institutional, and professional life.
We will combine brief shared readings with open consultation. The readings will be short and offered as companions for thinking. Much of our time will be devoted to case discussion and the relational field of clinical work — attending to patterns, symbols, ethical tensions, and what emerges between us.
Readings may include work by Amia Srinivasan, Adam Phillips, Deborah Britzman, Byung-Chul Han, Winnicott, Bion, Avgi Saketopoulou, Sarah Schulman, Lauren Berlant, and others.
This group will meet twice monthly on Zoom.
Clinical Round Pen: Psychotherapy Consultation with Horses
Bring your psychotherapy cases to the horses.
Participants will present a case to the group. We will spend some time discussing the clinical dynamics, and then, for most of our time, we will take the case to the horses to see what emerges.
In our experience, this is a powerful way to illuminate stuck places with clients, explore transference and countertransference dynamics, and witness relational patterns in a different register. It is also an opportunity to learn what it looks like to work clinically with horses in a contained and thoughtful way.
This is not personal therapy work. However, as in any psychodynamic process, inner material may arise. The group will be held with the same level of confidentiality and clinical care as any consultation space.
This group is open to licensed clinicians, associates, equine specialists, and mental health and wellness professionals.
Details regarding dates and structure will be shared with those who express interest.
Clinical Consultation group
We will also be offering a second, less structured consultation group focused primarily on case consultation and professional questions arising in clinical practice. There will be no assigned readings in this group.
This is a space for careful thinking, collegial exchange, and sustained attention to the realities of clinical life.
The group will likely meet on Zoom. If there is a local group of participants, we can consider meeting in person. If you have strong preferences about in-person participation, please let us know.
